What to Expect When Getting Your Car Windows Tinted

Getting your vehicle windows tinted for the first time can raise a lot of questions. Here is a complete walkthrough of what to expect when you visit Classic Shades for window tinting.

Before Your Appointment

Scheduling: Book online at classicshades.as.me or call (812) 475-8482. Select your vehicle type and preferred date. We are open 7 days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Preparation: Clean the interior side of your windows before your appointment. Remove any suction cups, stickers, or accessories from the glass. If you have existing aftermarket tint that needs removal, mention it when booking so we can schedule extra time.

Choosing Your Film: We offer three Autobahn film tiers — Black Line (dyed), Black Ceramic, and i3 Ceramic. If you are unsure which to choose, we will walk you through the options when you arrive. Most customers choose based on their heat rejection needs and budget.

During the Installation

Drop Off: Bring your vehicle to our shop at 1624 N Burkhardt Rd, Evansville, IN 47715. Front two doors take about 1 hour; full vehicles take 2 to 5 hours depending on size.

The Process:

  1. We clean the exterior and interior of all windows being tinted
  2. Film is precision-cut to match your exact window dimensions
  3. A solution is applied to the glass to allow positioning
  4. The film is carefully applied and squeegeed to remove bubbles
  5. Edges are trimmed and sealed
  6. Final inspection ensures a clean, bubble-free installation

Quality Check: Before you pick up your vehicle, we inspect every window for proper adhesion, clean edges, and zero bubbles.

After Your Installation

Curing Period: Wait 3 to 5 days before rolling down your tinted windows. The film adhesive needs time to fully bond to the glass. During this period, you may notice small water bubbles or a slightly hazy appearance — this is completely normal and will clear up within 2 to 4 weeks.

Cleaning: After the curing period, clean your tinted windows with a soft cloth and ammonia-free glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads.

Warranty: All of our Autobahn films come with a lifetime warranty covering bubbling, peeling, cracking, and discoloration. If you ever have an issue, bring your vehicle back and we will take care of it.

How Long Does Window Tinting Last?

With quality film and professional installation, window tinting typically lasts the lifetime of the vehicle. Our Autobahn films are designed to be color-stable and resist fading, and our lifetime warranty backs that up.
